Jawa Cafe in Kompleks Yik Fong, Ipoh is a hidden gem for fans of Indonesian Ayam Penyet. Reviewers praise its authentic recipe (learned from Java, Indonesia), especially the crispy-outside, juicy-inside chicken and “padu” sambal that packs good flavour. The pricing is reasonable (around RM9-11 for a set), the ambiance is simple and homey, though seating inside can get a bit warm so many prefer outdoor spots.

Many customers praise the authentic local taste and affordable prices, saying it’s one of the better mee kari spots in town. The stall setup is simple but clean, and service is quick and friendly. Ordered via Grab to my hotel yesterday. Food was good and well packed. Love the prawn roll so much! Will order again

Chinese restaurant

Bought them online and although it took long time but it was all worth it. Love the Lontong Special with Sambal Sotong and the Soto! If ever I come here again I will eat at the shop. The gravy is silky smooth and the sambal is just absolutely marvellous. Even the Nasi Lemak was delicious but ‘feels’ average if compared with the Lontong. Recommended!

Loved the curry asam, really tasty and suited my taste. Other dishes were okay. The place is clean and beautiful, and the staff are friendly.

Indian restaurant

A local Malay restaurant in Ipoh offering authentic kampung-style dishes with rich gravies and fresh ingredients. Affordable and homely.

The place was easy to find as it way located literally at the heart of Ipoh town. Parking is a bit further away, so you’ll need to walk a little and cross the road, but it’s not too bad since the area is close to a lively night market. Food was delicious! Prices are a little on the higher side, but definitely worth it for the taste and huge portions. My family loved the place. Staff were really friendly, atmosphere was chill and relaxed, and the interior design was nice and cozy

Aesthetic place (mcm kampung vibes sikit), no doubt — the design is beautiful, very vintage vibe. Tapi kalau bab makanan, hmm… it’s okay je, I’d say around 6.9/10. The food presentation was nice, but taste-wise tak terlalu wow. Still, it’s a good place for lepak and chill.

Pizza restaurant

Most customers find the portions generous and the prices reasonable for the quality. Some downsides include occasional issues like nasi (rice) served cold, or missing side items (sambal, soup) in orders. Overall, it’s a solid go-to for fans of ayam goreng kunyit who want flavour, value, and simplicity.

Beribu Bintang Cafe is a cozy spot by Sunway Medical Centre that wins people over with homely comfort food like nasi goreng kampung, buttermilk chicken rice, and char kuey teow bursting with “wok hay.” The coffee and drinks are generally pleasant, and the decor gives off a relaxed café vibe. On the flip side, some reviewers say portions are a bit small and prices are on the higher side for what you get. Overall, good for satisfying cravings if you don’t mind paying a little more in exchange for atmosphere and flavour.
