Chef Yuuki crafted Kaiseki dining experience was far beyond expectations. Aside from the private dining room, there are only five counter seats in the restaurant. Reservation is a must. On the day we dined, we were fortunate enough to have the Chef all to ourselves. From the beginning to the end, Chef Yuuki meticulously prepared exquisite dishes and explained the concept of Kaiseki. He also described his philosophy of sourcing ingredients strictly from his hometown of Ise (Mie Prefecture). The dining experience lasted 1 hr 45 minutes which was absolute bliss. I highly recommend this dining experience if you are visiting Tokyo!

An exquisite experience at Ise Sueyoshi. We went for lunch on Valentine’s Day and we were treated to a 1on1 experience with Yuuki. Every dish was expertly crafted and used only the best ingredients, but more importantly was the story it told not only of Japan and the area the produce was from, but also of Yuuki himself. It was a pleasure and honour to learn about Yuuki and the father that he taught him to cook and for whom the restaurant is name after. I’ll also add that the sake paring was a delicious and educational experience with each one perfectly matching the dish along with a perfectly chosen sake cup for the theme. Yuuki was also kind enough to recommend a homewares store which I could purchase a sake set to take home which ended up be a great recommendation. An amazing experience, thank you Yuuki Tanaka.

An unassuming cozy dining place served with warmth and pride. What stood out to me compared to most places I’ve been is how chef Yuuki-san pays homage to his father’s mentorship and the ingredients sourced from his hometown Ise prefecture. The dishes were well balanced and flavoursome. The service were perfection, personalized - it is our privilege to have been able to dine here and enjoy some humor from the chef too. Thank you chef Yuuki-san for sharing your craftsmanship and your story with us. Highly recommended.

There are lots of outstanding restaurants in Tokyo. Yet, there is only one I patronize every time I visit Tokyo. I knew Ise Sueyoshi from TripAdvisor since it is the No.1 restaurant in Japan. As a food lover, I decided to give it a go based on so many positive reviews. I am glad I took the first step to make my reservation for this jewel of the Japanese culinary scene. Ise Sueyoshi in Minato City offers a unique take on traditional Kaiseki and Kappo cuisine. Chef Yuuki, who is a professional and experienced chef, prepares every dish meticulously with seasonal ingredients often sourced from his home prefecture of Mie. I enjoyed the intimate setting of Ise Sueyoshi since I could have a valuable chance to interact with Chef Yuuki and learn more about the ingredients and preparation. The bonus is that Chef Yuuki speaks fluent English and we had no difficulty interacting with him. Every bite tells a story that speaks of history and culture. All dishes including the places they originate from can be found between the pages of a picture book at our table. I love this idea of a “travel guide and menu in one”. I could learn more about the origin of the ingredients from this book. An extraordinary gastronomical experience is a combination of the story of the food’s origin; the taste of the food; the unique ambiance and the legendary Japanese hospitality. It is beyond dispute this gastronomic gem has earned the acclaim of fine diners around the world. There is no better place than Ise Sueyoshi for an unforgettable exploration of Japanese Kaiseki 👍 Don’t miss this hidden gem when you visit Tokyo! ✨

Dining at Ise Sueyoshi was nothing short of extraordinary, one of the most memorable kaiseki experiences I’ve had in Japan. From the moment the meal began, it was clear that this is a restaurant deeply rooted in intention, storytelling, and respect for ingredients. Each course was thoughtfully introduced, with detailed explanations about the origin of the ingredients, the producers behind them, and the cultural or seasonal significance of the dish. This context elevated the experience far beyond taste alone, it felt like being guided through a living narrative of Japanese cuisine. The food itself was exquisite: refined, balanced, and deeply expressive of seasonality. Every dish showcased impeccable technique while allowing the natural character of the ingredients to shine. Nothing felt excessive or forced; instead, there was a quiet confidence and precision in every bite. What truly sets Ise Sueyoshi apart is the harmony between hospitality, craftsmanship, and philosophy. The pacing of the meal, the attentiveness of the service, and the calm, intimate atmosphere all contributed to an experience that felt both personal and profound. This is not just a meal, but a masterclass in kaiseki, one that honors tradition while feeling alive and deeply human. I would wholeheartedly recommend Ise Sueyoshi to anyone seeking an exceptional, meaningful dining experience in Japan.
